Issue 400 - Tesla shares battery tips
Pricing & Market trends
Used Teslas rise in price while other EVs get cheaper
While most used EVs like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Hyundai Kona Electric are dropping in price, used Teslas are actually going up. Prices for pre-owned Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X have all been climbing, likely due to the discontinuation of the S and X this year. Nonetheless, it’s interesting.
FSD
FSD’s newest behavior is the perfect answer to aggressive tailgaters 📹
FSD now automatically pulls over if it senses a tailgater, making for a much less stressful and safer experience when you’re faced with an impatient driver behind you.
FSD transfer policy changes, and what they mean
The terms of the FSD transfer program have quietly changed, now requiring delivery by March 31 instead of just placing your order by that date. This last-minute shift leaves many, especially early Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD buyers, stuck since deliveries will not arrive in time to qualify and there is little inventory to pivot to. If you cannot take delivery by the deadline, you can either switch to an inventory vehicle or get a refund on your deposit, but it is not ideal for those who counted on the policy as originally listed.
Software Updates
AirPlay-like streaming may be coming to CarPlay, boosting Tesla integration potential Musk says
Apple is working on an AirPlay-like feature for CarPlay that would let users stream Apple TV content on their car’s screen, but only when parked. If official CarPlay support arrives as rumored, this could give iPhone owners a much richer in-car entertainment option and make Supercharger stops more fun. It’ll be interesting to see if Apple eventually expands this to other streaming platforms.
Autopilot features renamed in software update 2026.2.9
A recent software update changes the names of several Autopilot features to stay aligned with new California DMV regulations. Navigate on Autopilot is now Navigate on Autosteer, the FSD Computer is called AI Computer, and most mentions of Autopilot have been updated to Self-Driving throughout the UI.
Trim Changes
Seven-seat Model Y returns to Europe, but only on Premium AWD
The seven-seat Model Y is back in Europe, but the third row is only available on the Premium Long Range AWD version. The upgrade costs €2,500 and delivery estimates are April to May 2026, the same as the five-seater. If you were hoping for third-row seating in RWD or Performance, you will have to wait and see if it ever expands beyond AWD.
Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD jumps to $69,990
The Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD price has been raised by $10,000, moving from $59,990 to $69,990 as the initial special offer ends. Despite losing some luxury features like adaptive air suspension and a premium audio system, it keeps the essentials most buyers are after, including strong AWD performance, quick acceleration, 325 miles of range, and a practical bed with Powershare outlets. Demand was huge at the introductory price, with deliveries now pushed into 2027, but even at the new price it still looks like the Cybertruck for people who want to put their truck to work.
Charging
Battery care tips updated in the Model Y manual
Tesla updated the Model Y Owner's Manual with clearer battery advice, including avoiding Supercharging for everyday charging and keeping the limit at 80% for daily use. Other tips include charging more frequently instead of waiting for low battery, avoiding sitting at 0% or 100% for long periods, and being mindful of idle features that can slowly drain the battery.
Tall Wall Connector pedestal launches in the U.S. with better cable management 📷
A taller Wall Connector pedestal is now available in the U.S., giving home or commercial setups a more polished charging station look. At 76 inches, it keeps the cable tidy and off the ground and can be configured for single or dual Wall Connectors. At $900 it is not cheap, but it is likely aimed more at destination chargers and businesses than typical home installs.
🤓 What the acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
AWD: All-Wheel Drive
FSD: Full Self-Driving
