Issue 364 - Is FSD v14 on the way?
Cybertruck
Tesla is offering some Cybertruck owners a free 1-year trial of FSD 📷
Tesla is giving select Cybertruck owners a complimentary year-long trial of FSD, letting them experience the latest iteration of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving package at no extra cost. If you recently got a Cybertruck, check your account, you might be one of the lucky ones.
Model Y
Tesla introduces acceleration boost for refreshed Model Y
Tesla just rolled out the Acceleration Boost option for the refreshed Model Y Long Range AWD, letting owners cut their 0 to 60 mph time to a zippy 4.2 seconds by unlocking an extra 100 horsepower via software. This $2,000 upgrade can be added right from the Tesla app or the car’s touchscreen, and gives you a sweet middle ground between the standard Long Range and the future Performance variant, which still isn't out yet. If you want more punch from a non-Performance Model Y, this is a fun, worthwhile mod!
Tesla offers legacy Model Y owners an interesting promotion
Tesla is encouraging owners of the older Model Y to upgrade by offering a $2,000 discount on the refreshed version, which comes with quieter glass, improved suspension, and a sleeker design.
Tesla announces 1.99% APR financing for new Model Y Long Range AWD in the US
Tesla is offering a super tempting 1.99% APR for 72 months on the new Model Y Long Range AWD in the US, making it extra affordable for qualified buyers who order after May 2nd. While you need a 15% down payment, there’s also a zero-down option at 2.99% APR if you roll in the $7,500 federal tax credit. This deal can’t be combined with the recent $2,000 loyalty discount, but if you’ve been waiting on a great financing offer for a new Y, now’s your chance! Model S & X
Select Tesla Model S/X to receive free battery seal upgrade
Tesla is proactively reaching out to certain Model S and Model X owners to offer a free high-voltage battery seal upgrade, improving resilience against severe flooding. This upgrade should give owners extra peace of mind during heavy rains or floods, though Tesla still strongly recommends keeping cars away from high water. If you get a service notification, you can book the upgrade at your local service center once the parts arrive.
Charging
Tesla uses pre-fab Superchargers to accelerate expansion abroad
Tesla is rapidly growing its Supercharger network outside the US by using pre-fabricated stalls built at its Buffalo Gigafactory, which allows stations to be installed in just hours and at lower cost. This smart approach recently brought the first Supercharger to Estonia after over a decade of waiting, and is helping Tesla stay ahead, even in countries like Sweden where unions are causing headaches. With more EVs on the road, these quick-install chargers are a much-needed boost for Tesla owners who want more charging options, fast.
Tesla pilots real-time Supercharger pricing
Tesla is testing out real-time Supercharger pricing at ten locations, where charging rates shift dynamically based on current station usage instead of sticking to fixed peak and off-peak schedules. Prices could go down during quiet times or up if things get busy, but you’ll always see the session price before charging starts and it won’t change mid-charge. It’s a smart move that, if popular, could make charging costs fairer for everyone and help balance Supercharger loads even better.
Software Updates
Musk teases major improvements to FSD, is version 14 on the way?
Elon Musk just hinted that major improvements are coming to FSD, breaking a months-long silence on updates. While many Tesla owners have been waiting for version 14, it looks like the next release will roll out on the 2025.14 branch, possibly bringing a host of new features, especially for Cybertruck which still lags behind other AI4 vehicles. High hopes for better lane management and decision making, with V14 rumored to use auto-regressive transformers for even smarter perception—now we just wait for public release!
Tesla spring update adds B-pillar recording, but only for HW4 vehicles
The 2025 Spring Update finally brings Sentry Mode and Dashcam access to the B-pillar cameras, adding two new camera angles that fill one of the longest-standing blind spots. The catch is that only Teslas with Hardware 4 and the AMD Ryzen processor (so newer S, X, 3, and Y from mid-2023 on) will benefit for now, leaving HW3 owners out due to hardware limitations. Oddly, Cybertruck misses out too, even though it has the right chips, likely because its Sentry Mode is set up a bit differently, but hopefully an update brings everyone up to speed soon.
🤓 What the acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
AWD: All-Wheel Drive
EV: Electric Vehicle
FSD: Full Self-Driving
HW3: Autopilot hardware version 3
